Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Outreach adjunct positions for the College of Forestry at Oregon State University (OSU).

College of Forestry Ambassadors serve as student representatives for the College of Forestry (COF) at Oregon State University. Ambassadors represent the College at events and programs that support College recruitment & marketing, student services, and alumni, donor and industry relations. Ambassadors assist with on- and off- campus functions, participate in professional conferences, attend alumni and industry events, and give forestry presentations and campus tours. Ambassadors are also liaisons for current students, offering support, student engagement, and communicating the needs of their fellow students.

Ambassador positions provide opportunities for work practice, and professional development through improvement of communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities expertise; recognition as a part of a team of respected student leaders; and networking with influential university administrators, faculty, industry leaders, and political figures. Incumbents in these positions positively contribute to the overall mission of OSU/COF and will have the opportunity to increase their expertise of OSU, COF, and the forestry, natural resources, outdoor recreation and renewable materials industries.

This position is anticipated to begin during Spring term 2024 and continue through the 2024-25 academic year. Incumbents may have the opportunity to continue on as an Ambassador after their first year of training/service, located on satisfactory performance and continued academic eligibility.

Position tasks Ambassador Expectations
   » Enrollment as a student at OSU in the College of Forestry at the Corvallis campus
   » Service as an Ambassador in the 2024-25 academic year is dependent on participation in required training programs
   » Attend all weekly team meetings, trainings, and leadership abilities development workshops
   » capability to work at least 5-10 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work might be required
   » Maintain professional appearance and presentation

tasks Include:
   » Participate in on- and off- campus recruitment activities and events. Off-campus recruitment availcapability is dependent on student class schedules as travel time may be restrictive. Travel to events/activities may require driving OSU Motor Pool
   » Outreach to current students in the COF, which may include hosting drop-in office hours remotely or in person, remote or in-person engagement activities, and specific outreach for their major of study
   » Outreach and education programs on behalf of the COF
   » Student employees may be trained to provide supplemental student support for career and academic success, such as: resume and cover letter review, strategies for time management, note taking, test preparation and more
   » Assist with programs for new and current COF students, such as Annual Ring, recognition events (dinners, ceremonies, professional and career development workshops, etc.)
   » Engage in professional development, skill, and educational training and activities, especially those relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion
   » Maintain communication with the Admissions Coordinator to include monitoring and responding to Ambassador-related email in a timely manner
   » Host on-campus visits and give COF-related campus tours and presentations
   » Participate in mentorship programs for various populations of new and current COF students
   » Communicate with prospective students and their families, favorably representing OSU and COF

FERN Center
   » Greet FERN Center visitors: answer questions and provide directions or information as needed
   » Check FERN Center computer lab printers everyday for printer paper
   » Keep inventory of FERN Center supplies and submit orders to Student Services
   » Maintain cleanliness and orderly appearance of FERN Center and student computer lab
   » Monitor the College of Forestry Student Discord channel
   » Assist with events scheduled in the FERN Center space, including putting up and/or taking down signage, tables, etc
   » Accept, process, and retrieve course reserves (textbooks, readings and supplies) for COF classes
   » Maintain inventory system and manage check out processes for course reserves and student materials (textbooks, reading, headphones, field tools, etc.)

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
   » Current undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student with a major in the College of Forestry (this includes Forestry, Natural Resources, Wood Innovation for Sustaincapability, Forest Engineering, Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering, and Tourism, Recreation & Adventure leadership abilities)
   » Must have completed a minimum of one (1) full term at OSU
   » This position may require prosperous completion of the OSU Motor Pool Driver Authorization Form and Van Safety Training
   » This position will require prosperous completion of the Office of Youth Safety & Compliance Youth Safety Training
   » Flexibility in work schedule is required, as occasional evening and weekend work is required

   » Majoring in Wood Innovation for Sustaincapability, Forest Engineering, or Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering
   » Availcapability to work over the summer
