Primary Purpose of Position The Super Fab Lab Manager is responsible for the operation and management of the College of Engineering Super Fab Lab. These resources include a machine shop, woodshop, electronics shop, polymer processing, and student design space. The work requires broad expertise of machining and digital fabrication. Summary of Position Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: » operational oversight and training for use of equipment » safety oversight and training of faculty, staff, and students using the lab » facility planning and maintenance » inventory control » purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment » fiscal and administrative services » monitoring environmental risks and quality control » planning and scheduling work, classes, and events » planning and scheduling research project work in the lab » providing technical support and skills in design and execution of teaching and research projects » teach workshops » determining staff assignments and training needs » outreach including tours, workshops or similar events. » human resource management for student employees Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's Degree, and 5 years significant practice to include practice in the operation of equipment typical to a Machine Shop, including CNC mills/routers, 3d printers, laser cutters and robotics. Preferred Education, expertise, Skills and practice Preferred Technical Skills and practice: » CNC metal machining » 3D printing design and small scale manufacturing » operational oversight and training for use of equipment » purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment and consumables » capability to provide technical support and skills in design and execution of projects » teach workshops Preferred Management Skills and practice: » safety oversight and training of faculty, staff, and students using the lab » facility planning and maintenance » inventory control » fiscal and administrative services » monitoring environmental risks and quality control » Working with the Director to schedule work, classes, research projects, and events in the lab » determining staff assignments and training needs » outreach including tours, workshops or similar events. » human resource management for student employees Necessary Certifications/Licenses Preferred Certifications/Licenses continuing professional development is required to maintain competency.
