Primary Purpose of Position The position of Social Media Content Specialist will be dedicated to content ideation, development, creation, and assessment for UCOMM owned social media channels, including the main University social media and Alumni accounts. This position will work collaboratively with the University social media team to develop new social media content processes and elevate the University's brand on social media.

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of practice related to the area of assignment in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and practice.

University Preferred Appropriate qualifications:


Graduation from a four-year college or university in radio, television, and motion picture and two years of practice in producing television program and audiovisual materials; or an equivalent combination of education and practice.

Essential Job tasks As a member of UNC Charlotte's social media team, the Social Media Content Producer will report to the Director of Social Media and will be responsible for all aspects of content execution for the flagship UNC Charlotte social channels. This includes:
   » Development, planning, execution, and post production of social media content across both video and photo . Ideation of content will be done in partnership with the full social team in a collaborative manner.
   » Provide skills in key Adobe programs: Premiere and Lightroom, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign as needed.
   » leadership abilities of in-field content production, including individual projects, live events, planned shoots, and other opportunities. Position will serve as an official team representative when shooting out in the field, quality controlling the environment and helping to prep subjects to appear in video content.
   » Maintain a high degree of technical production skills, including in-depth knowledge of camera operation and all related accessories, post production techniques, and social media production best practices.
   » Effectively coordinate social media production details with subjects of production, including coordinating location, equipment needed, script considerations, etc.
   » Ensure all gear is properly stored, maintained, cleaned, charged, and organized.
   » Develop processes and procedures for effective file/asset management.
   » Partners with and provides feedback to social team members and student worker on ways to optimize the production side of the content they are developing.
   » Serves as a mentor to the social team's student worker, accompanying them on projects and advising them on ways to lgain and grow.
   » Development and/or consultation on content plans, ensuring that the Charlotte brand is maximized in all forms of social media content.
   » Working with social media team members to assess performance of content and apply learnings to future content development efforts.
   » Pitching, testing, and learning related to social media content approaches, ideas, and trends.
   » Remaining up to date on content trends in the social media space and recommend content solutions to boost social media engagement.
Other Work Responsibilities
   » Collaboration with the social media team on other social media related tasks as needed, including support on social media monitoring, social media listening, copy writing, and other needs as assigned.
   » Coordination + project management with UCOMM content, video, and photography teams where applicable.
   » Partner with members of the UCOMM social team and broader UCOMM team to provide insights on social media content production best practices.
Departmental Preferred practice, Skills, Training/Education
   » Bachelor's degree in Film/Media, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
   » 3+ years practice in a professional social media and/or marketing/communication function.
   » Previous social media content video and photo practice on behalf of a brand strongly preferred.
   » Familiarity using Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom; Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign desired but not required.
   » Strong judgement and capability to use discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
   » Strong knowledge of how brand social media differs from personal social media in voice/tone, strategy, management, etc.
   » capability to adapt quickly to the ever-changing digital communication space and availability to lgain and adapt to meet emerging needs.
   » The prosperous candidate will have strong organization skills, attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
