Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time position (1.0 FTE) for the Accounting Technician within Financial Services at Oregon State University (OSU).

Financial Services supports UFIO by providing finance, budget, and accounting services. We manage the finances and process payments for the university's capital construction projects, real property acquisitions, and facilities management.

Financial Services works to provide UFIO units with accurate, timely, and significant financial information to decision makers. We strive to provide excellent support, skills in operating and capital accounting services, and enhance diversity.

The Accounting Technician is responsible for verifying accounts (to ensure proper audit trail and to ensure that recording procedures have been followed) and for tracking errors, allocating costs to accounts, technical account examination and/or error tracking, and resolution. Account examination at this level involves the use of bookkeeping skills to break down transactions and tracking individual elements through the accounting system.

Position tasks 50% Accounts Payable Processing - Performs 3-way matching to invoices, reviews documents for appropriateness and approvals, allocates charges and credit memos to appropriate account codes; uses Facilities Services integrated workplace management system (AiM) and Banner invoice data entry system (BennyBuy) to process and pay invoices.

25% Other Bookkeeping Processes
- Prepares and enters journal vouchers for reversal and correcting entries and redistributions. Processes travel authorizations and expense reimbursements; processes Visa purchasing card transactions. Process monthly utility invoices for payment and redistribution to self-support units on campus. May be responsible for reconciling some General Ledger accounts. Supports Financial Services in meeting month-end and year-end close deadlines.

10% Issue Resolution and Report Preparatio
n - Communicates effectively with vendors, managers, and customers using telephone, email, and in person to deal with issues. Works with manager to research and report on various financial transactions.

10% Clerical Functions - Opens mail, files documents, and scans documents into BennyBuy.

5% Other tasks as assigned - Special projects as requested by manager.

Minimum Qualifications
12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses AND one of the following: An Associates Degree in Accounting; OR One year of practice that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information; OR An equivalent combination of education and practice. Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
Additional Required Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
